Notwithstanding any efforts by the government to use intimidation or coercion, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) declares its steadfast dedication to promoting the welfare of workers.

In order to lessen the burden of living expenditures, NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero requested the government to approve a new minimum wage.

He expressed concern about the increasing hardship in Nigeria. He made this request in his speech during the 11th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Nigerian Medical and Health Workers Union, which was held in Abuja.

In a state of extreme desperation, Nigerians have taken to robbing and scavenging food trucks and warehouses due to the severe shortage of food.

“We, the people, must hold our leaders responsible if they do not recognize the seriousness of the situation.

“Hunger is pushing us to the verge of poverty in our own country. The fact that hunger is a powerful force that unites and mobilizes people is a plain reality. When public authorities write off protests as merely agitation sparked by hunger, they are denying the people their dignity and contributing to their poverty.

Food trucks and warehouses are being looted as a direct result of this carelessness. If something isn’t done quickly, this could get worse.
