The President Congratulates Anthony Joshua on His Heavyweight Boxing Win Against Francis Ngannou
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, hinted that Joshua could potentially take on Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in upcoming matches.
Joshua demonstrated his dominance over the Cameroonian fighter, knocking him down in the first round with a potent right hand and again early in the second with a combination of right-left hooks. Though Ngannou managed to rise, he was swiftly brought down once more by Joshua’s powerful right hand, prompting the referee to halt the bout.
Sharing his thoughts on X, Onanuga posted:
“Congratulations to Anthony Joshua, also known as AJ, for securing a second-round knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in the heavyweight bout in Riyadh. AJ had some words for the media after the fight: ‘You know what I’ve noticed with you lot (the media). Your life changes when you lose. But when you win it’s just on to the next.’
“The heavyweight division is a tough game. We got the job done and people can question me. But I’m not even buzzing with this win. On to the next.
“The next challenge may involve facing the winner of the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk matchup.”
