Troops of Operation Thunder Strike have neutralized two bandits during an evening ambush operation along the Gwagwada-Chikun road in Chikun government area.
Daily Trust gathered that the bandits approached on two motorcycles, and on springing the ambush, returned fire in an effort to charge through.
They were however overwhelmed, and two bandits were neutralized by the troops, while the others retreated with gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner Internal Security and houses Affairs Samuel Aruwan during a statement said items recovered along side the corpses included one motorcycle, one locally made rifle, a mobile , and a few wraps of Indian Hemp.
He said Governor Nasir El-Rufai congratulated the troops for the successful operation while praising their pro-active disposition.
He listed the bridges to include Alapako, Fidiwo and Saapade, all on the Lagos -Ibadan.
He stated that the drive tried forcing the vehicle through and within the method , damaged the bridges along the expressway.
“It continued to the Fidiwo bridge and made his way through, and causing damage to variety of the foremost beams.
“While the vehicle passed under the Ishara bridge with some scratches on the foremost beams, he got stuck under the Saapade bridge,” he said.
The FRSC and thus the police have received the scene to arrest the drive and impound the vehicle with the load.
Bakare said that the contractor executing project on the expressway, M/s RCC Nig. Ltd. had been instructed to shut the Alapako bridge to traffic as soon as possible thanks to the extent of injury .
He noted that efforts were on to disengage the vehicle from the bridge before being towed to the Ode Remo police station , saying that the Divisional policeman (DPO) was also at the scene.
