Service Chiefs Storm Maiduguri Over Boko Haram Concerns


As the military intensified the fight against insurgency in Borno, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, and repair Chiefs have arrived in Maiduguri, for the second time in one month to assess things on the ground.

Addressing troops, on Saturday, at the headquarters of “Operation Lafiya Dole” in Maiduguri, Irabor lauded them for the successes recorded.

He also commended them for his or her commitment and resilience, adding that there was a mandate given by the President and Commander in Chief that has got to be accomplished.

“What I want to allow you to know is that we have got a mandate from him (president) which mandate must be achieved.

“So, this is often the rationale why we are working assiduously. All problems with violence and insecurity, especially within the world of Operation Lafiya Dole, must come to an end,” Irabor said.

Earlier, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Farouq Yahaya, lauded the CDS and repair chiefs for the visits, saying that it might boost the morale of the troops.

“We are encouraged by this effort of the CDS and repair chiefs who are in-tuned every hour.,” Yahaya said.

He thanked the CDS and repair chiefs for his or her prompt response in addressing requests from the theatre and guaranteed them the troops’ commitment to deliver on assigned tasks.

The press agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CDS and repair chiefs also visited the 7 Division hospital, to interact with wounded soldiers receiving treatment.
