Sulaiman Muhammad, the man who got married to his late brother’s wife has spoken up on why he took such action.
Abubakar was killed during a gun duel with armed bandits at Ungwan Laya near Birnin Gwari on Saturday, February 13. He was buried the subsequent day, March 14. He was close to marrying and had shared his pre-wedding photos before his tragic end.
Recently, his fiancee, Hajara Ahmad, tied the knot together with his younger brother, Sulaiman, at a personal family function.
The Kaduna based man who is an indoor designer has now explained why he got married to Hajara.
During an interview with BBC Pidgin, Sulaiman said his brother’s death was devastating to him but that the circumstances surrounding his marriage to Hajara were ordained by God. consistent with him, shortly after Abubakar’s death, Hajara sent word to him through her family that she likes him and can wish to marry him.
He mentioned that he was in a relationship with another lady before Hajara came into the image which the woman had to simply accept her fate after he got married to Hajara.
He said what matters to him the foremost is that both families are in support of their union.
“Abubakar was my immediate elder brother and that I loved him considerably. His death still hurts me a lot.
What happened was that, after his death, the fiancée’s family sent a message to my family. and therefore the message is that the woman said she likes me and rather than calling off the marriage that was just three weeks away, it might be better I replace my brother, and today we are husband and wife.
I had a girlfriend but this thing that happened is destiny and that I am glad that my ex-girlfriend accepted it the way it’s. Both families are in support of what we did which is that the most vital thing.
My friend showed me a number of the comments on social media but I’m not moved in the least because God has already blessed our wedding. It rained on our day to point out God’s blessings.” he said.
