Former Inspector-general of Police, Gambo Jimeta is dead


Gambo Jimeta, a former inspector-general of police (IGP) is dead.
Jimeta who served as IGP between 1986 and 1990, also served as national security adviser (NSA) to the previous head of state Ibrahim Babangida and was also the representative of Adamawa state to the national conference held in 2014.

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu who confirmed the death of the previous IGP described him as “a great son of Nigeria who lived for the state and served with all his strength.”

He wrote;

President Muhammadu Buhari expresses sadness over the death of Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta, a one-time military officer of Police whose transition was announced Thursday evening.

Conveying the condolences of his family which of the govt and other people of Nigeria, the President describes the late crack detective as “a man of great courage, intellect, and a real Nigerian Statesman,”.adding that “Today, Nigeria lost an excellent son. He lived for the state and served with all his strength.”

“May Allah blesses his soul and provides fortitude to the bereaved family, the govt and other people of Adamawa State in touch this irreparable loss,” President Buhari prays.
