Former Mark Angel Comedy Crew member, Denison Igwe, in an interview, narrated what happened between him and his former friend, Mark Angel.
He explained: “I was the one who started the Mark Angel comedy sketches. Mark was a security man at Kilimanjaro Restaurant, GRA, Port Harcourt and I was handling camera equipment. I stole a camera and started filming skits.
He continued: “Mark suggested we create a Facebook page and we did.” When the site was monetized, Mark didn’t tell me about it. He bought a car in 2014, but when I asked him where he got the money from, he said someone gifted him the car.
He also started paying Emmanuela 20,000 Naira every month. We were poor and lived in makeshift accommodation. I was an orphan. None of us really understood the value of what we were doing. Mark never gave me ₦1000 until he gave me ₦50,000 in 2016 and asked me to manage it. He said he wouldn’t make any money off it. We made $160,000 at that time. I’m the only one who can tell the truth about Mark because I’m not scared anymore. I’m an orphan, he can’t kill me. Some people fear that if I talk about Mark, I’ll either die mysteriously or have an accident.
