
The Ekiti State Environmental Task Force has apprehended three culprits for involving in open defecation.
The three offenders, Femi Fasuba, Okeke Francis, and Yusuf Ibrahim were caught within the act at Moferere, Agric Olope, and Atikankan areas respectively.
Speaking on the incident, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister (Mrs) Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen who frowned at the incident said the culprits would be penalized under the extant laws.
The Commissioner stressed that this administration has zero-tolerance for open defection because the government is committed to the supply of a conducive and healthy environment for the people to protect against an epidemic of epidemics within the state.
She, therefore, warned the people of the State against the unwholesome act, adding that the Fayemi led government would be relentless in its efforts to fight against any act that would constitute a nuisance to the environment.
Reacting, the Director, Environmental Health and Sanitation, Mr. Tunde Balogun who led the team said the offenders were caught early morning of Thursday, 25th of November. He expressed the hope that the culprits will function as a deterrent to other lawbreakers.
