Christmas: deadly crash kills 10 in Kwara

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara, on Friday, confirmed that 10 persons lost their lives in an accident along Idofian-Ilorin road.

Kwara Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, told the press agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the crash was caused by regulation violation and wrong overtaking.

It occurred near the Unilorin Sugar Research Institute.

“The casualty involved two vehicles – a billboard Nissan Vanette bus and a personal Honda Accord car. Twenty-seven people were involved.

“Ten died, nine of them burnt beyond recognition, while 16 persons sustained various degrees of injuries. One other person was rescued unhurt”, Owoade said.

The injured are moved to Kwara State General Hospital and University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

Others were taken to Ile Anu Medical Centre at Indian and therefore the corpses.
